The History of Gulfstream

The history of Gulfstream dates to 1958 when Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation, now known as Northrop Grumman, acquired rights to the design for a new business aircraft developed by Grumman’s aeronautical division.

The first Gulfstream aircraft, the Grumman Gulfstream I (G-I), made its maiden flight in 1958. Over the years Gulfstream has continued to innovate and develop a range of business jets, earning a reputation for luxury, performance, and technological advancements.

Manufacturing the G450 and the G600

Gulfstream jets are primarily manufactured in Savannah, Georgia. The company’s main production facility, known as the Gulfstream Aerospace Savannah Service Centre, is a state-of-the-art facility where aircraft are designed, assembled and completed. The Savannah facility is also home to Gulfstream’s research and development activities.
